Keith Barrows, a non-profit executive, strategic leader, and attorney who has led development and client services teams throughout his career, will serve as Excelsior College’s next vice president for Institutional Advancement, the institution announced Monday.
As a member of the executive staff, Barrows will provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight of the College’s advancement programs and will be responsible for designing and implementing all fundraising efforts. He will lead the alumni, development, and grants functions at the College as Excelsior expands its alumni engagement and fundraising efforts.
“We are excited and pleased for Dr. Keith Barrows to join our senior leadership team,” said Excelsior College President John Ebersole. “As we increase our engagement with our alumni and friends and take on new initiatives in support of academic excellence, the College will benefit enormously from Barrows’ strong, strategic leadership in the advancement field. The entire leadership team and I are eager to welcome Keith.”
A graduate of Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA, Barrows received a bachelor’s degree with majors in political science and music. He also earned a law degree from Widener University and a Doctor of Education from Liberty University.
Barrows served most recently as a senior vice president at PNC Wealth Management, as the executive director of the Lock Haven University Foundation in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, and as the director of major and planned gifts at Lycoming College, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He previously practiced law in Williamsport, and served as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps on active duty as an attorney in the United States Army.
“I am excited to be joining Excelsior College at this critical time in the College’s growth,” Barrows said. “Excelsior is fulfilling an important and unique role in higher education with its focus on adult learning, and as a non-profit institution, it is deserving of charitable support. I am looking forward to working with alumni and donors to improve access to Excelsior through increased scholarship opportunities and additional funding for its academic programs. My own experience with online education as an adult student has shown me the importance of providing the financial resources necessary to support students, faculty and administrators to pursue excellence and achieve success.”
