Academic Advisor at Excelsior College Recognized with Multicultural Award

LCIElizabeth Ireland has been an academic advisor in Excelsior College’s School of Nursing for the past six years. On October 18, she was recognized during the Leadership Council on Inclusion’s (LCI) Fifth Annual Multicultural Awards at Schenectady County Community College.

The Leadership Council on Inclusion’s membership includes Excelsior College, Union College, University at Albany, Hudson Valley Community College, Fulton Montgomery Community College, College of Saint Rose, State Education Department, Siena College, Skidmore College, Schenectady County Community College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

Ireland received the award for outstanding staff member by working hard to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion at Excelsior College. In her leadership as a co-chair of the President’s Committee on Inclusion (PCI) at Excelsior College she demonstrated commitment and helped to create understanding and acceptance of diversity.  She facilitated discussions and brought light to issues on poverty, race relations, cultural and religious intolerance, homosexuality and women’s issues. Ireland has represented the PCI Committee at meetings and national conferences like the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity.
